JK Rowling has donated a set of seven signed Harry Potter books to raise funds for an Edinburgh rugby club.
The latest philanthropic gesture from the multi-millionaire author, who last year raised £1.95m for a children's charity with the Sotheby's sale of a handwritten volume of five stories, will benefit the Portobello rugby club, which was destroyed by fire in May 2007.
The books are expected to sell for at least £3,000 when they go under the hammer at Lyon and Turnbill auction house on Wednesday, and the funds will be used to help rebuild the vandal-hit club, which is reported to have lost archives in the fire.
